“(Un)lucky Sisters” is the Argentine movie of Netflix Plot, which depicts the accidental fate of two sisters, Jesia and Angela after their father’s death. The main idea starts when two completely unfamiliar sisters find out that their father left them millions vanishing behind the wall in shanty house. This lead character gains becomes the subject of a series of events that inevitably stress their love, imposes changes of their principles and unveils their history.

Jesi played by Sofía Morandi, is a vulgar woman who has no unrealized dream about her father who is an unfathoming man from his daughter’s perspective. She goes to his burial far more aghast than sad just in the hope that he could have left her some thing of value. This is different from Leticia Siciliani’s Angela who has deep-rooted feelings of betrayal and abandoned from a father whom she used to love though he had been away for long. Their topics include father-daughter estrangement based on bitterness, their first attempts at reconciliation, and their tentative friendship as they work out what their father left behind for them and what for the community.

Is (Un)lucky Sisters a True Story?

Certainly, (Un)lucky Sisters focuses on quite realistic topics but it is not a real story and has no intention to be one. It is a movie based on a screenplay written by Mariano Vera and the characters, storyline depicted therein, are, therefore, fictitious. The premise, however, is built upon the most common dreams and nightmares; what can happen if two students living paycheck to paycheck receive a large sum of money? This question defines the plot line of the Film so much that people are able to relate with the characters even though the story which unfolds is purely imaginary.

The screenplay of Vera pulls off the two ingredients of family drama and monetary twist correctly and makes a convincing and interesting story. The two characters of Jesi and Angela coupled with the differences in personalities as well as the feelings that they portray are not real persons but generalized figures which can be a likeness of many. It is a journey of redemption since the characters are stuck in the middle of the past and the future and have to choose the later.

Family bonds such as that of the relation between siblings and that between children and parents give an extra dimension to the story. It challenges the audience to ponder in how far one would be willing to go for family and if it is possible to turn one’s luck by getting rich. Since the story is entirely fictional, the filmmakers are not limited to the realistic depiction of the characters’ actions and their emotional experiences are depicted rather freely which makes this picture captivating.

In conclusion, although one can assert that there is no real life situation behind the story of ‘(Un)lucky Sisters’ it is possible to state that all the components of the story – characters and problems – are real life representations. The film is a comedy-drama that tries to raise an important moral question and as such the movie would attract anyone who loves comedy, drama or a good story about family and changing fortunes in life.
