The story of “Shortcomings” is about a film school dropout named Ben Tagawa who is having trouble with who he is and his relationships. Ben, on the other hand, doesn’t like these movies and says they only celebrate a capitalist fantasy and don’t deal with deeper problems in society.

Miko (Ally Maki) and Ben’s relationship changes when Miko moves to New York after being with Ben for six years. After his breakup, Ben looks for new relationships. He meets performance artist Autumn and later meets Sasha at a gay party. But Ben’s happiness doesn’t last long because Sasha ends up getting back together with her ex-girlfriend, leaving Ben angry and open to being hurt.
