Variety says that Seann William Scott will play the lead role in the new ABC comedy series Shifting Gears. Scott will join a talented group that includes Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins, Barrett Margolis, and Tim Allen and Kat Dennings in lead parts.

The show was given the go-ahead in July, and shooting will start in November. The story is about Matt, played by Tim Allen, a stubborn widower who runs a shop that fixes up old cars. When Matt’s divorced daughter Riley (Kat Dennings) and her teenage children move in, he has to deal with a different kind of restoration: putting his broken family back together.

Gabriel is a family friend who works with Matt in the shop, and Seann William Scott has been cast as him. Gabriel is a new series regular who is close to both Matt and Riley. This makes his character an important part of the shop’s relationships and the show’s comedic moments.

Scott has been in three big TV shows so far: the Fox comedy Welcome to Flatch, the third season of Lethal Weapon, and now this. Scott is most famous for his parts in the American Pie movies and comedies like Goon, Role Models, and Super Troopers 2. His comedic skills will bring something new to Shifting Gears.

Fans can also look forward to seeing Scott in the action comedy Jackpot and the new movie Bad Man. Keep an eye out for when Shifting Gears starts on ABC!
