Landman Episode 4 Recap: “The Sting of Second Chances” the fourth episode of Paramount+’s Landman, shows how strong emotions can get when characters face unexpected problems and decide to do brave things. When it comes to his ex-wife Angela (Ali Larter), Tommy Norris is at a crossroads. At the same time, Rebecca Falcone amazes him with how strong she is. Landman Season 1 Episode 4 Recap
Tiffany Falcone and Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) have had their share of fights, but when the stakes are high, Tiffany puts aside their differences. Rebecca fiercely defends Tommy and M-Tex Oil in front of a group of TTP’s lawyers, forcing the other side to settle. Tommy admires how well she negotiates, so he asks her to join him for a beer. Even though Rebecca is busy, she agrees to meet him for a drink at The Patch Cafe. This suggests that the two are becoming friends.
Angela and her daughter Ainsley work out in a way that gets people’s attention. Nathan gets so stressed out that he calls Tommy for help. The two are still up to no good when they try to get into the Midland View Country Club but can’t because of a private event. They finally get to The Patch Cafe, where they talk over Tommy and Rebecca’s quiet drink. The evening will be tense because Rebecca is determined to join them for dinner.
During dinner, Angela’s jealousy over Tommy’s time with Rebecca becomes clear. She thinks about their past and feels sad about the money they lost when the oil market crashed. Tom leaves the cafe because of the heavy conversation. Later, Ainsley talks to her father at the company house about the possibility of getting back together with Angela. Angela suggests that they try dating again, even though he doesn’t want to end their relationship because of his work obligations. Even though Tommy isn’t sure, he agrees, recognizing their love even though the road ahead will be hard.
When Cooper’s coworker Antonio gets hurt badly at the oil patch, it’s a turning point. Cooper faces his fears and climbs up the rig to help Antonio and make sure he gets medical help. Cooper fills in for Antonio when the work needs to go on, and the job is finished successfully. Because of his hard work, the well produced great results the next morning, which earned him praise from Tommy and Monty Miller. Cooper’s victory is short-lived, though, as Ariana, the widow of his friend Elvio, calls him. She wants to meet, which could start a new part of both of their lives.
Cooper’s first interaction with Ariana was at the funerals of Elvio, Luis, and Armando, where he came to comfort her. Cooper has been told not to date Ariana, but her willingness to meet him suggests that they are becoming emotionally close. Since they are both young and easily hurt, their interaction could lead to a romantic relationship that makes their already tough situations even worse.
In Landman episode 4, personal and professional problems are skillfully woven together. This sets the stage for interesting developments as the characters deal with the pain of second chances.
