Tracker Season 2 Episode 1 Recap
At the start of the episode, Colter (Justin Hartley) who has been thinking about Gina Pickett’s disappearance for ten years, starts to look into it. On the anniversary of her disappearance, he talks to Frank, the person he thinks is responsible, every year. Even though Colter has been after Frank nonstop, he has always been able to avoid justice. Colter is pulled into a new case after another tense fight with Frank. In Pine Bluff, Arkansas, a family of four has gone missing under strange circumstances.
It seems like Ted King, his wife Connie, and their two kids have disappeared, and Colter finds out about it. Craig, Ted’s brother, hires Colter to find them. He tells Colter that Ted had a history of gambling debts, but those problems were meant to be over after he won $50,000 in the lottery. The win got a lot of attention, and now the U.S. Marshals are looking into it because they think the King family may have been targeted because of the money. But Colter gets the feeling that there’s more to the story and chooses to look into it even though he’s been told to stay out of it.
Colter meets U.S. Marshal Jenny Martinez (Enuka Okuma) there, and she tells him right away to stay out of the investigation. Colter, who often goes against the crowd, doesn’t listen to her and keeps looking into it.
Colter meets a strange man named Matt Long who is wearing a U.S. Marshal jacket while he is searching the area. This man isn’t dressed right for a grid search—something doesn’t seem right. Even so, Colter thinks he is Jeremy Boyd, Martinez’s partner, and tells him important things about the case. But the man doesn’t answer Colter’s questions, so Colter tells everyone everything he knows about the case, which includes where the missing family is. As watchers might guess, this stranger is very suspicious, and the way he is acting makes it seem like he might be connected to the case.
A Terrifying Find
Colter digs deeper and finds that the family left their car and ran into the nearby woods to avoid being caught. While his mother went to look for him, the two kids were hidden. They told him that their dad had gone to destroy a tablet. Ted is hurt and being tortured by men with ties to a strong crime family when Colter finds him. Connie (Lindy Booth), Ted’s wife, is not who she seems to be. Her real name is Rachel and she’s been living in witness protection since she spoke out against the Garner crime family. She used to be part of the family because she was married to Kirk Garner, who is the boss’s son.
Kirk has found Connie after reading about her new family in the lottery story. Kirk is a dangerous person. He kills a real marshal while pretending to be a U.S. Marshal and joins the search for the family, trying to get back his son, whom he thinks is his. Colter has to act quickly to keep Connie and her kids safe from Kirk’s anger after this news comes out.
Kirk faces the family at Craig’s house and holds Ted’s son Brett hostage in a tense fight. Kirk thinks Brett is his real son and is ready to give up Connie and her daughter in exchange for keeping the boy. Connie begs him to listen, saying that Brett isn’t his. But Kirk won’t listen. Colter steps in with an extra idea. He talks Kirk into letting Brett say goodbye to his mother— which gives the Marshals a chance to step in. They kill Kirk in a dramatic moment and save the family.
The King family is back together again, but their lives will never be the same. The Marshals make plans for them to move again. While they are under witness protection. This keeps them safe from the Garner family.
Colter and Camille Hook Up
Colter’s mind is still on the cold case that worries him even though he won. Instead of going to a party with his friends, he goes to see Camille Pickett (played by Floriana Lima)—Gina Pickett’s sister. Both of them are grieving over the same thing, and they are both looking for solutions. This makes their connection a complicated one. They sleep together. Before they get close, Camille says— “I just really want to feel something that is not… you know.” This is a hint that she is emotionally worn out.
As they talk about the case, Colter talks about the strange thing he found in Frank’s freezer during his most recent break-in. The small fact seems strange but Colter thinks it might hold the key to finally figuring out what happened to Gina. At the end of the show, Colter is determined to keep looking for the truth. This makes viewers eager to see how the past and present will mix in future episodes.
