In Season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer, Mickey Haller’s investigation into the death of prostitute Gloria Dayton, also known as Glory Days (Fiona Rene), reveals a web of lies, betrayals and dangerous secrets. Gloria, who used to be a customer of Mickey’s, is found dead, and another customer, Julian La Cosse (Devon Graye), is charged with killing her. Mickey quickly learns, though, that Gloria’s death was caused by something much worse.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3: Agent DeMarco Kills Glory Dayton
Olivia asked Mickey (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) for help when she was in trouble for drugs in Season 2. Mickey got her out of jail by having her testify against Hector Moya, who is the dangerous leader of the cartel. Gloria said she would leave for Hawaii after that, but her tragic death shows she never got away from her dangerous life. She didn’t leave, so she kept working as an escort, which put her back in the path of some dangerous people.
DEA Agent James DeMarco was one of those people. DeMarco wasn’t doing what he was doing to do justice; it was his job to bring Moya down. He was actually working for a different cartel that paid him to get rid of Moya’s group. Gloria was tricked into putting a gun in Moya’s apartment as part of DeMarco’s plan to arrest him. But Gloria’s ties to the cartel and DeMarco would seal her fate in the end.
Why did DeMarco kill Gloria?
As Mickey looks into Gloria’s death more, he learns that it had something to do with the work she did with DeMarco in the past. Once Moya was in jail, another cartel tried to free him by questioning the evidence Gloria had set up. When they asked Gloria to testify, she was scared. There was no way she could hide her lies because she knew Moya would be very angry with her if her lies were found out.
Gloria asked DeMarco for help because she was afraid for her life, but she didn’t know how far he would go to protect himself. DeMarco knew that Gloria’s testimony could show that he was a crooked agent. He chose to kill her to shut her up and keep his criminal ties safe. DeMarco used Det. Neil Bishop (Holt McCallany), another shady person from his past, to find Gloria and kill her, making Julian La Cosse the perfect person to blame.
Julian’s Fight for Justice
When Julian is charged with killing Gloria, things look bad. He was caught on camera going to her apartment right before she died and admitting that they had a fight. But Mickey’s drive to clear — Julian’s name leads him to find out the truth about DeMarco’s part in what happened.
Mickey learns Gloria’s link to DeMarco and how she was working as an informant for him through his investigation. He also finds out that DeMarco has been friends with Neil Bishop for ten years. Bishop is a former detective who has a history of doing bad things. Mickey sets up a trap for DeMarco and Bishop using this link. He records them while they hide evidence to delay the trial.
The Truth Comes Out
Everything makes sense after hearing Bishop’s story. Bishop tells the judge how DeMarco killed Gloria to hide his tracks while he was on the stand. Julian is not guilty of any charges because of this testimony, but Bishop ends his own life soon after telling the truth.
Even though it ended in tragedy, Julian is now free. He had been wrongfully jailed for months and even came close to dying before DeMarco planned an attack on him in prison. Mickey isn’t done yet— he plans to sue the state on Julian’s behalf to get him a big settlement for what they did to him. These funds will help Julian and his partner begin a new life, and Mickey’s company will also gain from the victory.
Mickey Haller finds out the dark truth about — Gloria Dayton’s murder in Season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer, which is a very exciting season. Because Agent DeMarco lied and cheated — a case that seemed easy turns into a dangerous game where lives are at stake. In the end, justice is done, but not without tragedy. The case’s many turns show us how far some people will go to keep their secrets.
