Paramount+’s SEAL TEAM SEASON 7 EPISODE 4 proves the show still has much in store for Bravo Team and viewers in terms of sharing a relevant vision of the new world of warfare. The episode starts with tension abruptly as Jason Hayes, portrayed by David Boreanaz starts developing signs of internal conflict. His entry/lines that forge the outline for the episode, centres his discomfort around a mission in Myanmar, over perceived loss of civilian lives. This is a change in the behaviour of Jason who has been a soldier which shows us the loads he has been bearing for such many years .
Ray Perry (Neil Brown Jr. ) also needs a change as he is a police officer serving his last few years before retirement. While Ray has a plan that spells out how he will transition from the military to a more civilian-based career, purpose, love-life, and even business; Jason does not. This contrast is especially important in this episode; I liked how the bright light symbolizing hope for Ray is contrasted with a dark road for Jason. Whereas Ray is now moving on in life after getting rid of his fear, Jason is still lost in his own pain not knowing how to let go of the traumas that have befallen him.
On the other hand, Sonny Quinn (A. J. Buckley) rises in a surprising manner since he takes up the role of being Drew’s mentor given that he is the new addition to the team and replaced Clay. Although Sonny who has been affected by the death of Clay swings into welcome Drew in the family, Jason does not trust Drew. This is why there is a feeling today that Drew is something more than just Jason’s friend: he could be an opportunity for the main character to face his regrets and the burdening feeling he takes on.
The Bravo Team works hand in hand with the DEA and the job they undertake takes them to Myanmar but the plan changes when Jason suddenly cancels it. His decision causes eye brow because when Ray decides to confront him over this issue he lets him know that he is placing the entire team in danger. Kay shows some understanding of Jason when he claims that he is protecting the team, however Ray can see that there is more here than meets the eye, and that Jason is struggling with some things he has not faced head one. As it can be seen, Jason decides things based on his experiences and the large group suffers from his dilemmas.
