Production Weekly has confirmed that the huge streaming service has ordered this one-of-a-kind relationship drama, just in time for the holiday season next year. With a holiday setting, ‘The Last Christmas’ will follow a married couple as they go through the difficult process of getting a divorce right before—Christmas.
Filming is set to begin in Toronto, Ontario from February 3 to March 12, 2025. A crew will be there to make the snowy city the setting for this holiday-themed story of conflict and self-discovery. The project’s premise promises a new take on holiday movies that isn’t just about happy reunions or new romances, but the cast information is still a secret.
The Last Christmas Plot; A Christmas Divorce Story
The story is about a couple named Kate and Everett who decide to end their marriage as Christmas approaches. They agree to follow a plan they call the “honesty policy” to keep things open and polite during their separation so that they can be good parents to their kids. But as the holiday stress grows, it gets harder for both Kate and Everett to stick to their agreement.
Even though they mean well, secrets, anger and frustrations start to come to the surface, turning their “friendly” divorce into a tense and emotional tug-of-war.
