Fans’ favorite Detective Amanda Rollins, played by Kelli Giddish, is back in the newest season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. In Season 26, Episode 4, called “Constricted,” the stakes are once again raised. A date between two people that goes horribly wrong. A teenage girl is raped and she is now in the hospital fighting for her life. Because the attacker got the idea for the attack from disturbing content they saw online, the case is likely to go into the harsh realities of online influences.
This case is personal for ADA Carisi (Peter Scanavino). Because he has daughters who are growing up, he can’t help but worry about the case in his personal life. It’s hard for him to stay away from the horrible things he sees at work because they make him feel bad. He thinks about how dangerous it could be for his own family. This makes Carisi’s character more real and shows how hard it is to balance being a lawyer and a dad.
The promo for Episode 4 shows bruising on the victim’s neck and suggests that the attacker was copying violent actions seen in online videos, which alludes to how scary the case was. Since there may be more victims on the way— the SVU team will have to move quickly to stop more harm. The tense tone of the preview makes me think that the episode will be full of tension, urgency, and emotional depth.
