The second episode of Accused‘s second season, which takes a fresh look at crime and punishment centers on Taylor Schilling‘s character April, a nurse.
In each episode, which is set around a court case, we meet the accused person but don’t fully understand what they did or how they got to court. The truth is revealed through flashbacks, making the viewers reconsider their first impressions. One of the show’s main strengths is how this structure challenges our prejudices while also keeping us wondering.

April played by Taylor Schilling: Schilling has a new, more complicated role in this episode of Accused. She is known for her Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated part as Piper Chapman in Orange Is the New Black. She was in Dear Edward on Apple TV+ and Pam & Tommy on Hulu not long ago.
Tyler played by Justin Chambers: The part Chambers plays in this episode is darker than the one he has played as Dr. Alex Karev on Grey’s Anatomy for a long time. Tyler is a doctor with a big ego who gets caught in the middle of a dangerous fight.
Danny Pino as Jake: The versatile Pino (Law & Order: SVU, Cold Case) joins the cast but his role is unknown. Jake, his character, may add mystery to the plot.

In “April’s Story,” Schilling portrays a nurse who seems to be in an uncontrollable predicament following an apparently insignificant altercation. April may have been implicated in a murder, as the episode suggests, but nothing in Accused is as simple as it seems. The play starts when April, inadvertently or possibly carelessly, dents the door of a doctor’s car that belongs to Justin Chambers’ character, Tyler.
The trailer makes it look like there will be a fight on the road. As Tyler chases April, things get very tense, and just at the worst possible time, she hits the back of his car, flipping it over.People are left wondering: Did Tyler make it through the crash? Was April acting out of fear and wrath, or was this incident just an accident? Has she committed a hit-and-run or fled a risky situation?The episode will address these queries and push us to think through all relevant angles.
