The romantic comedy series created by Darren Star and Jeremy Richman, which debuted on July 29, 2022, will have to be canceled by the streaming service after only one season. The news does not come as a complete shock due to the fact that the show did not make waves on Netflix in the same manner that some of its other original versions have in the past few months, and it only made it into the streamer’s internal top 10 once, during the week that it was first released.
Micahel Lawson (played by Neil Patrick Harris) is a successful real estate agent who, on the surface, appears to have it all: a love relationship of 17 years with his partner Colin (Tuc Watkins). But Micahel’s life is turned upside down when he learns that his long-term partner Colin is cheating on him. “when Colin suddenly moves out on the eve of his 50th birthday, Michael is absolutely surprised,” as the show’s logline puts it. Overnight, he has to face two nightmares: the loss of the man he thought was his soulmate and the reality that he is a gay man in his mid-forties living alone in New York City.
In addition to Lilly Burns and Star, Richman, and Harris as executive producers, the cast also includes Tisha Campbell, Brooks Ashmanskas, Emerson Brooks, and Marcia Gay Harden.
