Venom: The Last Dance: Is Venom Dead? Ending Explained!: Venom: The Last Dance is the long-awaited conclusion to the Venom trilogy. It tells the story of Tom Hardy’s journey as Eddie Brock and Venom, his crazy, helpful partner. The movie, which was directed by Kelly Marcel, brings Eddie and Venom back into the fight, this time against new threats from space aliens and secret groups. Eddie and Venom are on the run again in this last chapter, but this time there are even more dangerous people after them. The journey is harder than anything they’ve ever done before. It forces them to face both physical enemies and the deepest fears that have been holding them back from starting to be together.

Within Venom: The Last Dance, Eddie is on the run from the police after being blamed for a murder he didn’t commit. A strange creature called the Xenophage and a government group called Imperium are both after him. Imperium, which is led by Chiwetel Ejiofor as Rex Strickland, wants to catch symbiotes like Venom and find out what their real purpose is on Earth. Throughout the movie, Eddie and Venom struggle with issues of survival, loyalty, and the point of their strange relationship, which all leads to a final choice that could mean the end of Venom. But is it really goodbye for this famous pair of bad guys?

Eddie and Venom’s Last Dance Plot

Venom The Last Dance (1)

Eddie and Venom are in Mexico at the beginning of the story, drinking away their problems in a bar after their last deadly fight with Carnage. There is news that Eddie is wanted for the murder of Detective Patrick Mulligan. The tragic death of Detective Mulligan after a fight with Carnage has made people suspicious of Eddie. Eddie goes to New York to get away from the police and clear his name. But soon, the Xenophage, a cruel creature sent by Knull— the ancient being who made the symbiotes, finds them and follows them. Knull’s plans? To get Eddie and Venom’s “Codex” which would free Knull from his prison once it was unlocked.

Imperium, led by Strickland, joins the chase, which makes their journey more difficult. In order to study Venom at Area 51, Strickland has to do it himself. Eddie and Venom are attacked over and over, including a life-threatening attack in the air that forces them to land in the desert. Venom says that Knull made Xenophages in the beginning to hunt symbiotes with the Codex. The Codex is an unknown piece of code that appears when a symbiote brings its host back to life, like Venom did with Eddie before.

Eddie and Venom finally get to Las Vegas, where they meet up with Mrs. Chen (Peggy Lu), whose face brings them comfort in the midst of the chaos. But their reunion doesn’t last long because they are caught off guard again. They are taken to Area 51 after Venom is caught and Eddie is restrained. Eddie learns that the Codex inside him needs to be destroyed in order to save the universe from Knull. This can only happen if Eddie and Venom are no longer together, maybe forever.

The Final Battle at Area 51

Outside of Area 51, Strickland and his team question Eddie. People are trying to figure out what the symbiotes’ job is on Earth, but Venom is able to get out of jail and reunite with Eddie. Knull’s Xenophages attack Area 51 in a brutal way, setting off the final battle. Venom lets go of other symbiotes that were captured in the lab to protect itself from the Xenophages. These symbiotes join forces with new hosts to make a strong army to fight the Xenophages.

Eddie and Venom have to make a very bad choice in the middle of all this chaos. Venom decides to split up with — Eddie because he knows that the only way to save the universe is to destroy the Codex. Their relationship, which has been important to both of them, is now the thing that makes it hardest for them to stop Knull. Venom says goodbye to Eddie with a heavy heart and then gives up his life by merging with the Xenophages. He leads them into an acid shower trap with the help of Strickland, who sets off his grenades even though he is dying to kill them all. Eddie’s last words from Venom are a hopeful but uncertain “Bye for now.” Venom then melts away with the Xenophages.

Does Venom Really Die?

Venom’s death seems to be the end of the matter, and Eddie is left to heal in the hospital while his criminal record is erased. Eddie takes some time to think, so he goes to New York and ends up at the Statue of Liberty, a place he and Venom had planned to see together in the past. Eddie thinks about their partnership at these times— honoring the bond that had saved his life more than once.

Still, there is a chance that Venom will come back. “Bye for now,” Venom’s last words, give us a hint that his death might not be as final as it seems. The scene after the credits of the movie makes people wonder more than it answers. A cockroach that looks like it has fused with a piece of the Venom symbiote is seen crawling through Area 51. It’s possible that Venom, or at least a part of him, lived thanks to this small but strange sight. Will Venom find a new host? He might even come back to Eddie in a different form. It looks like the door is open, even if it’s just a crack.

What Does the Mid-Credits Scene Mean for the Franchise?

The movie makes it clear that Knull’s threat is far from over, but it’s not clear what will happen to Venom. In the scene during the credits, Knull says he will return and warns that the universe is no longer safe from his anger. This points to a future fight in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe that could go on even if Venom isn’t the main character.

Director Kelly Marcel confirmed that Knull is too important of a bad guy to be limited to a single movie. She also hinted that plans have been made for him to appear in other movies in the future. Other symbiotes, like Agony, who bonds with Dr. Teddy Payne, played by Juno Temple, show that the symbiote legacy will live on, maybe shifting attention to new characters and hosts in Knull’s growing army.

Is this really the end for Venom?

Venom: The Last Dance is both a sad goodbye and a possible start to a new life. It looks like Eddie’s journey with Venom will end in tragedy and sacrifice, but anything can happen in Marvel’s world. The Codex is gone, the Xenophages have been defeated, and Knull is still free. This is a good mix for ending things and starting new ones.

Fans have to deal with the thought that Venom may be gone for now. But, as we saw with Marvel, symbiotes tend to come back when you least expect them to. As long as Eddie and Venom aren’t in charge, the door is still open for more symbiote stories. Venom: The Last Dance shows how complicated Eddie’s relationship with his symbiote is. It also reminds us that in the Marvel universe, saying goodbye isn’t always permanent.
