Netflix’s next release, The Perfect Couple, is a mystery drama that revolves around the investigation of a crime set against the backdrop of opulent spaces. Adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s 2018 novel, the plot revolves around the character Amelia Sacks, played by Eve Hewson, who is soon going to marry into the elite family of Nantucket. The movie is about a wedding ceremony arranged by the groom’s mother Greer Garrison Winbury, played by Nicole Kidman that quickly transforms into a murder mystery as the body of a woman is discovered on the beach. As the secrets unravel, the audience is left wondering that anybody could be the culprit. Where was The Perfect Couple Filmed?
The shooting for The Perfect Couple started in April 2023 and finished in June 2023. Though the story takes place in Nantucket, the actual shooting took place in Chatham and around cape cod which adds the overall vibe of show similar to actual setting of ‘Nantucket.’ Other important shooting locations are Eastward Point, Harwich and interesting and scenic points across Cape Cod. While it is important to note that the production crew traveled to Nantucket to shoot aerial B-roll, most of the live-action takes place in and around Chatham.

Eastward Point, Chatham
Most of the filming was done in the secluded and wealthy Eastward Point setting and more specifically in a large empty mansion by the sea in which the majority of the series takes place. This place is used to depict the “Summerland” estate in the series where the fancy high end wedding shoot is expected to occur. Seashore especially the Eastward Point Beach is depicted as the backdrop where the discovery of a body is made before the wedding —the event that triggers the plot.
2. Chatham beach and tennis club
One of the other shooting locations which became known due to the series is the exclusive Chatham Beach and Tennis Club. This venue extends the story’s sense of glamour and elitism, as it host several important scenes that are aimed to depict the life of the Winbury family and their party.

3. Harwich Town Center
The centre of the charming town of Harwich also features prominently throughout the series. The streets, small shops, cafes, and perfect coziness create an atmosphere of a real American small town of Harwich for the TV series. With these shots, scenes shot in this location portray a typical culture of people which is far different from the Times Square Winbury, showing the viewer the multifaceted life of coastal Massachusetts.
4. Northport Plaza Transformation
In a dramatic scene, what is now known as Elwood’s Raw Bar, located in Northport Plaza, was turned into a basement of Nantucket Police Department for the series. The production team also built sets for interrogation rooms and jail cells to depict the investigative part of the story as well.
David Eldredge, co owner of Elwood’s pointed to the realistic sets referring to them as deceptive in the sense that it made a lot of customers do a double take as a result of the sets bearing a lot of resemblance to real life settings. ‘I remember that one day somebody came and asked me when Nantucket had relocated its police station to Chatham more or less,’ he continued, an amusing proof of the series’ dramatic realism.
Author Elin Hilderbrand, whose a work of fiction from which the series has been adapted is the one penned in the year 2018, has shown the level of elation in filming that has been selected for the show. If I may recall, during an interview with Boston. com, Hilderbrand said, “Since most of The Perfect Couple was shot on location here in Chatham, the show itself will have a very Cape- and island-like flavor.”
She went further to explain how the production team ensured that they produced an accurate depiction of Nantucket and even used extra shots of the island to get a real feel of the place. The hiring of film crews and hiring a helicopter with Hollywood legend Fred North, who filmed overhead footage and who later messaged Hilderbrand and said that he had never filmed in one of the most beautiful places in the world, explained Hilderbrand.
Actress Nicole Kidman who is both an actress and a producer of the series also expressed appreciation to the locations for keeping every cast and crew a part of the series to the maximum. “Filming in Chatham allowed us to experience and portray the luxurious yet intimate atmosphere that is so integral to The Perfect Couple. The locations became characters in their own right, adding depth and realism to the narrative,”
Eve Hewson also pointed out that it was great shooting in Cape Cod because of the calm and beautiful scenery which made her get to her character’s feelings better. ‘Cape has something magical about it especially along the coastline, it made shooting a very serene but mysterious outlook which suits the story perfectly’,said Hewson during interview.
In order to strengthen the association with the chosen Nantucket setting, the producers of the show were very attentive to details and tried to include as many local references into the show as possible. The fake wedding invitation that has been created for the show and is posted on Netflix’s Tudum website invites the guests to ‘Summerland’ and also contains actual landmarks of Nantucket such as the Wauwinet resort, Bartlett’s Farm, etc., which also helps in building up the reality aspect. He stated that the aspects bring a sense of realism which makes it rather convincing that the shooting of the entire series occurred on Nantucket.
