The Original Wednesday Addams, Lisa Loring, dies at 64

Date:

Variety, confirms the sad news that Lisa Loring, who played Wednesday Addams on the first live-action Addams Family series, has passed away.
Her friend Laurie Jacobson broke the news of Loring’s passing. Sunday, TV producer and writer Jacobson posted on Facebook, “It is with great sadness that I report the death of our friend, Lisa Loring.”  The actress has been on life support for four days after “suffering a major stroke brought on by smoking and high blood pressure,” as reported by Jacobson.
Last night she went away after her family made the agonizing decision to have it removed yesterday,” Jacobson said. “She will forever be Wednesday Addams in the fabric of popular culture and in our hearts.”
“Lurch’s Grand Romance” has Wednesday, a character played by Loring’s Wednesday, teaching Lurch how to dance.
In Season 1 of Tim Burton and Netflix’s series Wednesday, Jenna Ortega, who plays the depressed teen, danced a tribute to Loring. “I knew there were certain things I wanted to do. I paid homage to Lisa Loring, the first Wednesday Addams. I did a little bit of her shuffle that she does. Of course, they cut out of the camera when I did do it, but it’s there! I know it is!”
Lisa was a beautiful, generous, and caring person who was also a devoted mother. Her impact on the entertainment industry was immeasurable. The laughter, warmth, and love she left behind for her loved ones will live on in our hearts forever. So long, Lisa. From 1964 through 1966, Loring portrayed Wednesday on The Addams Family. The youngest Addams taught Lurch her version of “The Drew,” a peculiar shuffle that has become popular on the internet in recent years, in an episode from Season 2. Loring has also guest starred on television shows such As the World Turns, Barnaby Jones, Fantasy Island, and The Phyllis Diller Show.
