Grotesquerie on FX has a history of surprising turns, and Episodes 8 and 9 are no different. In Episode 7, we learned that everything we had been seeing was happening in Lois Tryon’s mind. Episodes 8 and 9 go even deeper into the show’s signature strange and psychological horror.
Grotesquerie Episode 7 – A short Recap
Let’s quickly go over Episode 7 again before we get into what’s next. We found out that Niecy Nash‘s character, Lois, has been in a coma and that everything that has happened in the show so far has been happening in her mind. The case of a claimed serial killer she’s been looking into? It was all in her head. Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), who seemed sketchy, is now the head detective, and Lois’s daughter Merritt (Raven Goodwin) is not a disturbed teen but a successful cancer researcher. She was married to Ed (Travis Kelce), who had been having an affair with Lois for two years. At the end of the show, Lois is in the hospital, and her family is having a hard time deciding whether to turn off her life support. At last moment, Lois awoke from her coma. Fans can’t wait for what’s next after the mind-blowing twist in Episode 7.
Grotesquerie Episodes 8 and 9 Preview: What’s Next for Lois?
“Lois Accepts the Help of a Specialist,” the summary says of episode 8, will be about Lois’s struggles to find her way between her dream world and the real world. Writing the show are Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken, who created Grotesquerie. Elegance Bratton will direct it. In the trailer, Lois tells a doctor, “I feel stuck in a maze, an awful, never-ending nightmare,” hinting at her mental turmoil. The doctor then asks, “Are you ready to go back to the real world?”
Megan, who Lois used to trust, says in the trailer, “I was your partner, not your enemy.” This seems to make the difference between real life and the dream world even less clear. When Lois finds a killer who is acting out scenes from her dreams, she has a creepy feeling that her memories are linked to a real crime.
Grotesquerie Episode 9 Preview
The same creative team behind episodes 8 will return to direct and write Episode 9. Plot says, “Lois Contemplates a New Future,” which will pick up where the last one left off as Lois continues to face her new reality. This episode looks like it will be just as intense as the last one. Lois starts to think that her dreams may be telling her something terrible. According to the promo, Lois might be dealing with a “copycat” killer who is making her coma-induced fears come true in some way.
Lois starts to wonder if she brought something bad from the dream world back with her. Megan tells Lois that “it’s bigger and more planned” than she thinks. Lois knows some of the people who have been killed, which makes the situation even scarier because it makes the stakes higher.
As Lois tries to figure out what is really going on around her, the show’s emotional and psychological depth keeps growing. The drama from Episode 7 should be built up in these two episodes, as Lois gets closer to figuring out what caused her coma and deals with the effects of her past life. Things are getting more and more like nightmares, and as the show gets closer to its end, viewers can expect a lot of changes and mind-bending moments.
Grotesquerie was created by Ryan Murphy, so don’t expect the usual. The twist about Lois’s coma has already confused watchers, but more is likely to come. The trailer makes it sound like the “monster” Lois was chasing in her dreams might have shown up in real life. Is there a real serial killer out there? Or is Lois still thinking about it all? Like always, Murphy’s style will keep us wondering right up until the end.
Ryan Murphy dropped some interesting hints about upcoming episodes of Grotesquerie in an interview. These hints were mostly about exploring psychological dread and the fuzzy lines between reality and fantasy. He said that the show is based on current fears and the way crazy our world is right now. Murphy said that the Episode 7 twist is only the start and that there will be more to discover in the next shows. He said that the plot was like a bad dream where both the watchers and the characters are stuck in a skewed version of reality.
Murphy also said that important global problems like climate change and women’s reproductive rights gave them ideas, which gave Grotesquerie more depth as a horror movie. He said that the point of the show was to make people think about what is real and what isn’t, especially as Lois continues her quest to escape her coma-induced nightmares and face new fears. He also said that there are “Easter eggs” in every show that hint at what’s really going on with Lois.
