Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 17 Recap: “Entitlement”

Date:

As we got closer to the end of the series, tonight’s episode 17 of Blue Bloods Season 14, “Entitlement,” was full of emotional cases, personal struggles and family drama. With high stakes in every storyline, this episode showed why people are still interested in the Reagans’ world.

A Tragic Case for Danny and Baez

A star student, was found dead in her dorm room. Danny Reagan and Maria Baez were called to look into her death. At first, it looked like Gabi had tragically killed herself, but her sad mother didn’t believe that. Her daughter’s bullies, or even worse, she thought, were to blame for this terrible act. One of them might have even killed her.

Danny said he would find the truth, even though it was clear the case would be very hard. Bullying was the most likely cause, as shown by evidence at the scene and by Gabi’s classmates who spoke out. Danny and Baez dug deeper and found diary entries and online messages that showed Gabi was having problems inside.

Gabi had tragically killed herself, the truth came out in the end. Giving Gabi’s mother this sad news was one of the hardest things Danny has ever had to do. She had promised to find justice, but now she had to find the truth, even if it wasn’t what her mother wanted to hear.

Eddie and Jamie Clash Over a Squatter

Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray) got caught up in a sticky squatter dispute. The apartment owner, Vince Harris, had been out of town for months and came back to find Rocco Amato living in his home. In an angry attempt to scare the squatter away, Vince threw rocks at the windows, but the law was not on his side. After living in the house for more than thirty days, Rocco had the right to live there according to rules that protect tenants.

Eddie found out that Rocco was a confidential informant working with her husband, Sergeant Jamie Reagan. This made things more complicated. Jamie told Eddie to calm down because Rocco’s information was very important for solving a big case. For Eddie, though, it was a mess. She felt bad for Vince because he couldn’t afford to go to court to get back his house, but she couldn’t do anything because Jamie was involved.

The conflict between Eddie and Jamie gave their story more depth. Eddie wondered if Rocco was cheating the system. In the end, Rocco’s help with the police paid off, but the squatter problem wasn’t fixed, which put Vince in a tough spot.

Erin’s Matchmaking Leads to Trouble

Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) found herself in an unusual situation when her case against businesswoman Sloane Adams took a personal turn. Erin noticed that Anthony Abetemarco, her investigator, had grown fond of Deanne, who works with Sloane. Antony even gave Deanne his personal phone number, which made Erin suspicious.

Anthony’s unusually easygoing behavior made Erin angry, so she decided to look into Deanne on her own. Even though the case against Sloane was going on, Erin couldn’t help but try to set Anthony up with someone. Even though she wasn’t sure at first if Deanne had anything to do with the case, she told him to look into a possible connection with her.

This plot line made the episode funnier and lighter, but Erin’s actions made it hard to tell the difference between her work and personal life. It’s not clear if her interference will help or make things worse in the long run.

Frank Has to Deal With Political Manipulation

Commissioner Frank Reagan had to deal with a more difficult problem when the Governor came to him with an idea. As a practical person, Frank thought that the offer might have been made for a reason. Details of the plan weren’t given outright, but Frank’s doubts showed that he had been playing political games for a long time. This subplot set up what could be a big event in the last episode of the series.

The Reagan Family Dinner

The Reagan family dinner was always a light moment in the middle of the serious stories. Sean told everyone that he had enough credits to graduate from NYU a year early, which was exciting news. Danny’s family made fun of him for being so serious. The jokes and friendly banter were a nice break from the serious cases and showed how close the Reagan family really is.

Episode 17 of Season 14 was full of emotional and thought-provoking scenes that mixed personal and professional problems in a way that worked well. The episode showed how complicated life can be for Reagans, from Danny and Baez’s sad case to Eddie and Jamie’s moral dilemma. The last episode of “Entitlement” is coming up soon, and fans can’t wait to see how these stories end and what the future holds for the loved Reagan family.
