Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 12 Recap: Henry’s Living Wake

Date:

Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 12 Recap: In the twelfth episode (called: Without Fear or Favor) of Season 14 of Blue Bloods, things get tense as familiar faces take on tough cases. It’s clear that this episode will have some surprises when Danny Reagan is paired with a British investigator who talks down to people, which he didn’t expect or want. At the same time, Frank (Tom Selleck) and Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) are put to the test of their honesty as they stand firm in their beliefs and fight against those in power who disagree with them. With only a few episodes left in this season, each case and conversation brings the Reagan family closer to realizing things that could change their lives.

Danny and the British Investigator

The day gets frustrating for Danny when he has to work with Granger, a British detective who is very sure of himself. What was their job? To catch a notorious gunrunner who was a threat to the city. Because Granger doesn’t like American culture and is very critical of Danny’s grammar, he gets angry with Danny right away. The different personalities make the partnership uncomfortable. Granger is always criticizing everything around him, including Danny’s language and methods. This makes the whole thing hard for Danny.

Even though they don’t get along, they keep working on the investigation. In a dramatic turn of events, Granger saves Danny’s life when they are in a fight with Hughes—the gunrunner. This brave move starts to ease the tension, but Granger’s pride still makes him a difficult partner. In the end, they catch the criminal, and Granger even lets go of a long-held grudge. Danny has mixed feelings about the whole thing.

Erin and Crawford’s Clash

Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) is dealing with his own problems, but Erin is having a very different kind of trouble at the District Attorney’s office. DA Crawford, who is known for not giving in, tells Erin that she needs to file charges against a police officer who was involved in a recent fight. Erin, committed to justice, is skeptical, especially since the evidence doesn’t support Crawford’s accusations. Instead of pressuring the grand jury to indict, Erin presents the facts objectively, choosing integrity over obedience to Crawford’s demands.

When the grand jury decides not to press charges, Crawford confronts Erin and says she tipped the scales in her favor. In a clever comeback, Erin rebuffs her, reinforcing her commitment to justice. Her defiance not only highlights her strength but also reminds Crawford that Erin isn’t one to be manipulated. Erin’s refusal to compromise her values underscores her dedication to her work—a trait that runs deep in the Reagan family.

Frank’s Fight with Mayor Chase

At the same time, Frank is having yet another ideological argument with Mayor Chase. The mayor tries to get Frank to drop the charges against a former police officer who was involved in a recent fight on the side of the road, saying that Frank would have done the same for his own family. Frank, on the other hand, makes his position clear: everyone should be responsible for their actions, no matter what their connection is. This difference in values makes it clear that Frank and the Mayor don’t get along.

Later, when the former police officer is badly hurt in another fight, Chase feels bad about what he did because he knows that his actions may have led to the violence. But Frank, who is always kind and understanding, reassures the Mayor. Frank has a soft side that is rarely seen but important to his character. His concern for Chase shows that.

Jamie’s Strange Case

In a fun side story, Jamie (Will Estes) takes on a case involving a group of men who think someone has hacked into their betting accounts. While Jamie was looking into it, he found that the men’s kids were using their parents’ accounts to make bets. The case seems small compared to what Jamie usually does, but it adds a funny touch to an otherwise serious episode.

Henry’s Living Wake

Henry (Len Cariou) says he wants a “living wake” so he can hear his loved ones’ tributes while he’s still alive. This turns the Reagan family dinner into a morbid conversation. The Reagan family is worried about the idea, even though it seems like a joke. They have long been afraid of losing him.

Sean recalls Henry hiding him after he broke a flower pot. Eddie remembers a comforting hug at her first family dinner. Jamie thanks Henry for encouraging him to follow his gut and become a cop. Erin recalls advice from Henry to hear her late mother’s voice by closing her eyes. Danny calls Henry his hero. Frank, after some humor, reflects deeply, saying Henry’s influence runs “deep and wide.” As the family thinks about Henry’s request, the moment is a gentle reminder of how short life is— especially now that the season is almost over.

Episode 12 of Season 14 of Blue Bloods has a mix of high-stakes drama, funny moments, and deep reflection. As each family member faces different moral and professional problems, the episode reinforces the values of honesty and loyalty that have made the Reagan family famous.
