In the midst of American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez‘s seventh episode, “Dirty Pain,” we can’t help but think back on the dramatic events of the sixth episode, “Herald Street.” Last week, Aaron Hernandez had to deal with the heavy weight of fame, which had terrible results. In Episode 6, “Herald Street,” Aaron finally took the stage as a professional actor. But the popularity quickly showed its darker side. The episode shows the jail of fame, which is similar to what Sherrod said about the stresses that come with being successful. Aaron had a hard time balancing work and his personal life because Shayanna was pregnant and their relationship was unstable.
In this episode, we also learn about Aaron’s complicated views about his sexuality, especially his desire to hide his relationship with Chris. On a “boys’ trip” to Cabo, where he tries to keep up a front— his mixed feelings become clear. This shows how troubled he is on the inside. The story builds up to the terrible night when Aaron’s anger turns into violence that changes his life and the lives of those around him forever.
The way things turned out shows that Aaron couldn’t handle the stress of being famous, his secret relationships, and the demands of his family and the public.
