Grotesquerie Episode 7 Recap — Lois In A Coma

Date:

Grotesquerie‘s seventh episode starts with a shocking turn that completely changes the storyline of the show. Lois Tryon ( Niecy Nash-Betts) — the main character, has been relentlessly looking into the awful killings that involved Father Charlie (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), a troubled priest. After a violent fight with Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), whom she used to trust, things take a shocking turn. As this crazy fight goes on, though, we learn that things might not be what they seem to be. Is Lois’s —world real or is it all something her brain is making up? And why does everyone else act so differently around her? What the audience thought was a simple murder case turns out to be a dark psychological trip.

Grotesquerie Episode 7 Recap

The episode starts right where Episode 6 left off, with a cliffhanger. Someone in a mask had just attacked Lois very badly. It turned out to be Father Charlie, the unhappy priest who has a history of hurting himself and being mentally unstable. In Episode 6, Lois revealed who attacked her in a dramatic scene that made fans wonder if she would make it out alive. It changed everything for Lois. She was sure that Father Charlie wasn’t just a suspect. he was the mastermind behind the killings at the — Grotesquerie.

Lois’s doubts about Father Charlie grow as she heals from the attack. She looks into his past more — because she is sure there is more to the story. Sister Megan is a reporter who has been trying to expose the church’s crimes. She meets her while she is doing her research. Lois starts to think that Megan might not only be a reporting that she is innocent, but also Charlie’s secret partner who is helping him kill people while acting innocent.

What starts out as a questioning during dinner quickly turns into a full-on fight. Lois says that Megan and Charlie planned the killings — and Megan snaps after at first denying the claims. She pulls out a knife, and a terrible fight starts. The fight close up is very fierce, and Lois gets seriously stabbed. Megan turns out to be more dangerous than Lois thought. In a shocking scene, Megan drags Lois back into the kitchen and keeps attacking her. The story changes right when it looks like Lois is going to be killed.

In an instant, the scene changes to a hospital. Lois is in a coma and is lying in a hospital bed with her family around her. It turns out that everything that has happened on the show so far—the murder investigation, the fights, and the confrontations — has all been in Lois’ thoughts. When the show’s plot twist comes out, it’s clear that Lois has been asleep the whole time and that everything was made up while she was unconscious.

Grottesquerie Episode 7 Recap

Lois isn’t the smart detective we know her to be in this alternate world. Instead, it turns out that she is a woman whose personal life has been crazy. Marshall (Courtney B. Vance), her husband, is having a hard time dealing with the fact that she has been having an affair with Eddie, their son-in-law. Merritt (Raven Goodwin), Lois’s daughter, has known about the affair for years but has kept it a secret. Now, Lois’s father and daughter must decide if they want to keep Lois living.

This new information changes the relationships between the players in a big way. Sister Megan is not a nun in this world; she is a detective who worked with Lois to look into the Grotesquerie case. Father Charlie, the troubled priest from Lois’s made-up world— is now Dr. Charlie, the doctor who is taking care of her. Nurse Redd (Lesley Manville) is another important person who is no longer a mystery helper but a social media star. The fact that these characters have two different roles makes Lois and the viewers feel like they are not in real life.

While Marshall and Merritt talk about whether to turn off Lois’s life support, the episode shows a different story going on at the same time. Lois is still fighting for her life in her dream, this time against Megan in the violent kitchen scene. While she is hurt, Lois gets the upper hand. She finally gets a gun and kills Megan, killing her right away. She wakes up in the hospital after this violent event in her dream.

The last few seconds of the show are very scary. Lois wakes up out of the blue, gasping for air. She’s still living— but the world she woke up in is very different from the one she knew. Her family is gathered around her hospital bed, but you can feel the stress in the room because Marshall and Merritt don’t know what to do when she wakes up. People are left wondering if Lois can make sense of the horrible things that are happening in her head and in the real world. The question still stands; what was real and what was just something she made up while she was unconscious?

Episode 7 does a great job of blurring the line between truth and fantasy, making viewers think about everything they’ve seen. Since Lois is now awake, the show sets up an interesting look at how she will deal with the effects of the investigation and her personal life. As usual, Grotesquerie manages to surprise viewers, and this show takes the psychological horror to a whole new level.

Tune in every Wednesday on FX, with episodes streaming on Hulu the next day.
